What say you passerby,
Who gives two a ride?
Someone will come for us in proper time
Either way, depart I must
So learn to love the bus
Mind your side and trust the line
A stranger is no friend of mine
Along your sad and silly trail
Hellos got lost in the mail
The service often fails
But your devices will suit you fine
A stranger is no friend of mine
I know you came to find
Nothing happens when you try
It sounds like both our fathers lied
I've tales of any old kind
But a stranger is no friend of mine
These roads hold more for you
With folks who adore to hear a joke or two
Good men die at home
They don't roam broke with a pocket comb
And good advice ain't never free
Especially from me
I know you came to find
Nothing happens when you try
It sounds like both our fathers lied
I've tales of any old kind
But a stranger is no friend of mine

Lake Effect
02:45
|
|||
Rock salt, sidewalk sores
Tormented by tiresome chores
Storing dinner on sheets of ice
Sharp shoes, frozen pipes
I’m no weatherman, but this ain’t right
Working degrees so low
I toe to toe with an Eskimo
Would ask that pioneer
How abides his global side
‘Cuz I’m dealing dukes to the hemisphere
Preheat the automobile
Hands, knees, a buried wheel
Lake effect affects me quite
Big wheel boys, dirty white
I ain’t no truck driver, but this ain’t right
Working degrees so low
I toe to toe with an Eskimo
Would ask that pioneer
How abides his global side
‘Cuz I’m dealing dukes to the hemisphere

Frankenstein
04:10
|

I trust neighbors and I love liars
My birdhouse was set on fire
The marshal he said from his van
Blame you not an angry man
But I know just who burned it down
It’s a twisted kind of town
My lawnmower’s a one week missing
And no police are listening
Sitting empty in a garbage sale
But I won’t go in that corral
There are tetanus nails and a pyromaniac
With a chimney in his shack
Everyone’s a monster
Everyone’s afraid
We’re crazy, bored, and poorly paid
Often we set fire to the avenue
Some Frankenstein is leading the parade
A sparrow flies in a tired spell
He checked out of his motel
On my sill with one good eye
He watched me hang my clothes to dry
And I had no seeds left to throw
But he won’t leave ‘til it snows
Everyone’s a monster
Everyone’s afraid
We’re crazy, bored, and poorly paid
Often we set fire to the avenue
Some Frankenstein is leading the parade

Scientist and Neighbor
05:26
|

Neighbor:
Oh, hello do you have some time to go
'Cuz the future and the past have my concern
There are only present eras I have seen
If I borrow your machine I will return
before you know
Scientist:
Understood, this contraption here is good
With the privilege of science in my home
Space and time is a wonderful design
But with it one cannot be on his own
With one trip you could rip apart the fibers
of the cosmos in a most traumatic way
As exciting and enticing as it is...
you must avoid the origin of days
Neighbor:
I'm sincere and I humbly persevere
As my character is my word it should explain
This is more than a joyride I implore
There is universal insight to obtain
but I am here
Scientist:
I'm afraid I can't lend you what I've made
Not that your vacation lacks direction
But years I've lost to exhausting procedure
Traveling dimensions in perfection
You may find in an intersecting lifetime
The catastrophic consequence it plays
As enticing and exciting as it is
You must avoid the origin of days

I'll talk to the silent
And sometimes race the weak
But I pace in my attention as I speak
I have secrets in the trash and all that
Laughter after all, can be a science of the tyrants
And smiles harbor hidden vile beaks sometimes
I may barter, try to bind
But first I'll lift my wine
When you are sold your faces
You keep them from the light
You sure do look so beautiful at night
When the moon was part of the world
It wasn't such a sight
As the universe was young
I will never say that I was right or wrong
I'm just trying to get along
By my tongue and being gone
I'm whispering my will
but even as I live
I really haven't anything to give
Remembering names and slapping some hands
And romancing with plants because people love surprises
They might recognize us at a glance
But always lift your eyebrows in the hallways
Answer your call waiting and write home on the holidays

The Sediment Bay
03:36
|
|||
Mining underground, the earthworms in a line
Climbing further down, the family combined agreed
The day or night is darker
Every minute they proceed
Their bellies waxed the tunnel
Where they guided it to lead
The gold and soil is old and loyal
Oh but it can be so cold in oil
Keeping way and minding pace
Sometimes it’s hard to stay in place
In lying layers of decay
When earth is solid space
Their softly coated trail will take them to the sediment bay
Where gentlemen stay in inanimate days
And elements pray on them
Here advancing again
To dance with the buried as they decompose,
To swim in the head of a happy host
And embody them as ghosts…

A king still needs his vitamins
He’s looking pale and getting thin
What kind of trouble is he in?
A king still needs his vitamins
We’ll keep him in his bed,
our mouths are closed and our hands are red
We’re told we can rest when he’s dead
We won’t let them down
The town is crying for a dying crown
and he’ll leave us we assume real soon
It seems we’re next in line
We don’t count the sister, but the youngest makes nine
And there is no room for you
