A family of worms struggle past Earth's debris to an unlikely destination.

Mining underground, the earthworms in a line
Climbing further down, the family combined agreed
The day or night is darker
Every minute they proceed
Their bellies waxed the tunnel
Where they guided it to lead
The gold and soil is old and loyal
Oh but it can be so cold in oil

Keeping way and minding pace
Sometimes it’s hard to stay in place
In lying layers of decay
When earth is solid space

Their softly coated trail will take them to the sediment bay
Where gentlemen stay in inanimate days
And elements pray on them
Here advancing again

To dance with the buried as they decompose,
To swim in the head of a happy host
And embody them as ghosts…
